Trichology: The Science Of Human & Scalp Hair

Trichology is the science of the structure, function and diseases of the human hair. Clinical Trichology is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of human and scalp hair. A Trichologist, like me, receives training in all aspects of hair science, hair care and hair processing. This science can help so many people who suffer from hair loss, and I’m proud to be able to offer my patients this service.

My interest in Trichology started out years ago when my 9-year-old daughter lost her hair because of a condition called Alopecia Areata. Seeing the impact that science could have on other people who suffer from hair loss, but think that they just have to live with it inspired me.

Trichology Options

Some young women actively need to have their heads shaved and then have head hair replacement glued to their head every month, which has equally inspired me. I started getting interested in researching other options for growing hair or helping with different scalp problems, and this is when I found out about Trichology. I was hooked from the start.

After my initial interest, I knew I had to take the next step and after researching several Trichology schools, I chose Dr. David Kingsley in New York. I took the classes online, which it took me about a year to complete.

During that year, my interest and passion only grew. The next step in my training was visiting Dr. Kinsley’s office to go through in-depth clinical practice.

Now, I am a Certified Trichologist. I help women who lose their hair from chemotherapy, women who have Alopecia, like my daughter, and men who want to regrow their hair.

Certified Trichologist

There are different treatment options, but I use a scope that magnifies the client’s hair and scalp from 50 to 250 times its normal visibility. I also recently invested in a new scope and software that has detailed information for each patient. This scope and software combination is a helpful tools to use with a dermatologist and the other doctors so that each patient’s information is readily available and easily accessed by their doctor.

Learning the science of Trichology and being able to help so many people with an issue that is so very personal is a passion of mine and something I take very seriously. I offer a private salon that my patients can feel comfortable in and provide support, information and guidance.
